After my front disk brake upgrade I was enjoying the greater stopping power but was having issues with grabbing and a grabbing noise when coming to a hard stop.
I took the front brakes apart and noticed that there was a small letter L and R stamped onto each Altima caliper bracket even though they looked identical. I made sure to orient them correctly this time.
I again cleaned the rotors and the ceramic pads from the Altima with orange degreaser and Brakleen spray.
I reassembled paying special attention to the markings on the pads that helped show which side they were previously on. I also added more brake grease to the sliding surfaces and made sure the pads moved freely and smoothly in the bracket guides.
The result is the brakes are now working perfectly with no noise or binding.
When regreasing the caliper pins I noticed that one of the Altima pins has a plastic sleeve (not the boot) around the metal shaft. Since I did not observe how it came out, I had to research where the plastic pin goes.
This guy who is a Nissan tech says to put it in the bottom.
This guy says it goes on top.
I put mine on the bottom.
